Papierbotschaft – On Paper And Print Finishing
It was about time that a design-related blog in the German blogosphere brings materiality as an important aspect of graphic design into focus. The guys of TYPOSITION recently closed this gap with their new blog project titled PAPIERBOTSCHAFT – what means «Paper Embassy». The gentle reader is continously served with articles on manufacturers of paper products, new and innovative print finishing techniques and impressive and beautiful examples of works which deal with the aspect of materiality as a great additional instrument of design.
I'm really honored to be asked by Peter Reichard of TYPOSITION to be one of the first interviewees for an article in their new blog – just because I made a comment to one of their first articles. Peter wondered how the use of materials and print finishing was imparted within the context of the studies of visual communication at the HGK FHNW. So we did a short interview of three questions on it.
I really wonder whether there are other blogs – especially in English language – on the topic of materiality in graphic design or design in general? A topic that is still a bit underrepresented in my feed reader as it is in my blog.
