Fresh words

Some days ago I stumbled upon an article at slanted.de about a small but nice magazine «BELLA triste». Within the mag short stories and poems of contemporary German-language writers are published and combined with interviews and comments on the subject.

Lately the #22 of the periodical came. The publisher took a chance to make this number a special one. The graphic designer Andreas Töpfer did a nice job and created an individual layout for each text in the book and combined it with heart-melting drawings he took from his agenda – I guess. The usage of paper in diffent colors, the «copy shop»-like style and the nice cover make it a harmonious whole. On some pages my Basel trained – or contaminated? – eye has its doubts that the solutions used are really the right ones. But in view of the consequent playful character of this publication it is far from being critical in any way.
After having read about the #22 I immediatly ordered it. It took about two and a half weeks until it finally found the way from Germany to my letterbox. But – although other blogs already have shown some pictures of it – I quickly took some pictures of this publication for you. I think the fact that #22 found its way into some design blogs is itself already a great compliment for the designer. My personal opinion: a winsome and refreshing mag that made me curious about its contents.
